Give a second chance to a shelter pet in need
At Pets for Patriots we believe that everyone and anyone can benefit from a new best friend: an adopted shelter pet. The unconditional love, friendship and companionship of a pet - especially an adult that is given a new lease on life - is second to none.
Not everyone is able to care for a pet family member, often for the same reasons that some people must relinquish their pets to shelters in the first place. Even if you can’t have a pet of your own there are actions you can take - today - to help give these loyal animals a second chance at life:
- If you’re unable to be a full-time pet parent, consider fostering a pet
- Donate to causes that support adult shelter pet adoption, like Pets for Patriots
- Volunteer at your local animal shelter, rescue, SPCA or humane society; many need dog walkers, help during adoption drives or people to help with direct mail campaigns
- Check with your local shelter and donate items they need, which may include blankets, food, pet toys and other basic necessities
- Advocate at your municipal, county or state level for stricter animal cruelty laws
