Mixes are 'in'
Certain breeds are intentionally cross-bred and are known as ‘hybrids,’ such as Labradoodles, Puggles and Cockapoos. Some hybrids are produced to yield a pet that benefits humans - a hypoallergenic dog, for instance - but these designer mutts are far more expensive to adopt than your everyday shelter dog or cat and can cost thousands of dollars. We expect the popularity of hybrids will lead to better acceptance of and demand for the garden variety shelter mix - a less expensive and more humane way to bring a pet into your family.
