About West Feliciana Animal Humane Society

West Feliciana Animal Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in St. Francisville through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends. The organization was formed to help the local sheriff’s office with abandoned and lost animals, and manages the municipal shelter, which was known previously as the James L “BO” Bryant Animal Shelter.

The team at West Feliciana Animal Humane Society provides a safe, healthy and caring environment for all animals in its care. Since taking over shelter management, euthanasia rates have dropped from nearly 90% of all animals to being used only as a last resort for those beyond recovery. Dogs and cats are given socialization daily, and the shelter staff aims to work with dogs who may need to learn basic commands.

West Feliciana Animal Humane Society welcomes monetary donations to fund its work. Donations in-kind are accepted at the local grocery, and include needs such as pet food, treats, litter and bleach; blankets, towels and foster homes are needed most during cold weather months. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.
