TED WHITCOMB

DIRECTOR OF VETERAN OUTREACH

Ted is a Vietnam Marine Corps combat veteran. In 2011 he adopted a then three year-old Great Pyrenees mix named Bentley through our program, and soon after joined Pets for Patriots as a volunteer. Ted’s initial responsibilities included shelter and veterinary partner outreach, after which he transitioned to work directly with veteran applicants and adopters.

In October 2013, after more than two years as a volunteer, Ted joined Pets for Patriots as our Director of Veteran Outreach. In this role he is responsible to review and adjudicate all veteran applications, and manage our pre-adoption counseling and post-adoption activities as well. He works closely with other members of our team to assist veterans who may need temporary support through our hardship and hero programs, or our pilot dog training initiative.

Above all, Ted ensures that veterans we serve know that we care about them.

Ted is a lifelong pet guardian and often shares his experiences with our adopters. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, playing with his grandchildren, and being a faithful dog dad to his pups Steve and Elliot – whom he adopted after Bentley’s passing in 2021.
