Bitter Root Humane Association

About Bitter Root Humane Association

Bitter Root Humane Association offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in the Bitter Root Valley through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends. In operation since 1972, the shelter provides compassionate care for homeless companion animals until they are adopted, reunites pets and their guardians, promotes humane population control, and advocates for the welfare of all animals.

As part of its innovative approach to animal sheltering, Bitter Root Humane Association helps dogs and cats in their care maintain their health, minimizes stress of the shelter environment, and reduces the development of behaviors that would make them harder to adopt.

Bitter Root Humane Association welcomes monetary donations, as well as in-kind contributions of a wide range of kennel and office supplies, and pet food; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.

Adoption Fees Include:

Free wellness vet exam
Current vaccinations
Microchip for permanent identification
Gift bags with adoptions
