About Humane Society of Greenwood

The Humane Society of Greenwood offers dog and cat adoptions to Pets for Patriots members in Greenwood County, South Carolina and will help them find their new best friends. The organization was founded in 1958 and has been managing the county’s animal shelter and adoption center since 2003.

In addition to pet adoption services, the Humane Society of Greenwood operates a publicly available low-cost spay/neuter clinic to reduce pet overpopulation and promote responsible pet guardianship. To demonstrate that animals provide countless value to people, the organization works in collaboration with Leath Women’s Correctional Institute where inmates foster and train adoptable dogs and with Beyond Abuse, an advocacy program for victims of domestic and sexual violence. In the shelter’s Camp Good Dog program, children ages 8-12 learn the basics of dog training, pet care, and how animal shelters work.

The Humane Society of Greenwood welcomes monetary donations as well as contributions of various pet food, toys and enrichment items, cleaning and other supplies; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands-on experience, become a valued volunteer or pet foster.
