About Jacksonville Humane Society

Jacksonville Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in Duval County through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends. The shelter provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while enlisting the community’s support to end the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.

Jacksonville Humane Society is a “no-kill” for space facility, and does not euthanize healthy or treatable companion animals in their care. As part of its commitment to humane education and responsible pet ownership, the shelter offers a free pet behavior helpline, as well as a summer camp for children.

The shelter welcomes monetary donations and receives no government funding of any kind. In-kind donations of pet treats, blankets, cleaning supplies and other items are welcome; see their wish list for details. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.

Adoption Fees Include:

Microchip for permanent identification
FeLV/FIV combo test (cats only)
Heartworm test (dogs only)
Monthly parasite prevention
30 days free ShelterCare pet insurance
