KC Pet Project offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots. The organization has locations in Kansas City and Overland Park.
Every week the shelter hosts a Waived Fee Wednesday for dogs who are 20+ pounds and 6+ months of age. A Canine At-Risk List features vulnerable dogs who are free to adopt on any day.
In addition to adoption, KC Pet Project offers a wide range of community programs. These include humane education and Eagle Scout/community service projects. A new Humane Animal Support Services aims to keep people and pets together during times of hardship.
KC Pet Project welcomes monetary and in-kind donations. See their wish list for details. For a more involved experience become a volunteer or pet foster.
