KC Pet Project offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in Kansas City through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will them find their new pet friends. The organization operates a main shelter on Elmwood Avenue, and satellite adoption centers at Zona Rosa and in the Petco in Overland Park.
In addition to pet adoptions, KC Pet Project maintains a pet lost and found, handles impounded pets through the Kansas City Animal Control, and provides pet licensing. To help keep people and their pets together, the shelter’s on-staff trainer helps people with pet behavioral issues, offers short-term pet food assistance, and helps secure low-cost veterinary services for owned animals.
KC Pet Project welcomes monetary and in-kind donations; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience become one of their valued volunteers or fosters.
