About Lake City Humane Society

Lake City Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots.

Operating in northern Florida since 1963, the shelter provides pet adoption and animal control services for Columbia County. In addition, the shelter operates Lake City Humane Society Veterinary Clinic, a Pets for Patriots veterinary partner, to serve community pet owners.

As part of its commitment to place as many pets as possible into loving homes, Lake City Humane Society maintains two prison dog-training programs. Through these ten-week programs, shelter dogs improve their prospects for adoption by learning valuable skills from select inmates, who themselves learn meaningful skills.

Lake City Humane Society welcomes monetary and in-kind donations; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience become one of their valued volunteers or fosters.
