About Leavenworth County Humane Society

The Leavenworth County Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends.

The county’s original humane society was founded in 1888. Today, the Leavenworth County Humane Society continues the work of improving the lives of pets and people through education, advocacy, owner assistance, sheltering and adoption. Pets are cared for in the organization’s temporary shelter or state licensed foster homes.

The shelter upholds a vision where all animals in the county are treated humanely and every pet has a loving forever home.

The Leavenworth County Humane Society welcomes monetary donations and in-kind donations from their wish list. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.

In addition to weekday hours, the shelter is open the second Saturday of each month from 1pm-5pm.

Adoption Fees Include:

Microchip for permanent identification
Collar and leash (dogs)
