About South Suburban Humane Society
South Suburban Humane Society offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots and will help them find their new best friends.
To increase the adoption potential of the animals in its care, the shelter runs a satellite adoption center in Homewood in addition to its main Chicago Heights shelter. Veterans in our program may adopt from either location.
The organization is dedicated to the care and sheltering of animals needing protection, humane law enforcement, and educating the public about responsible pet guardianship.
South Suburban Humane Society welcomes monetary donations and operates two thrift shops. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers, event helpers or fundraisers. Opportunities are available as well as an unpaid student interns in PR/marketing, education, or criminal justice.
