Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter

Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter offers dog and cat adoptions to Long Island and metro New York veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots. It is the municipal shelter for the largest township in the country and is committed to finding homes for every adoptable animal in their care.

The shelter also provides a humane education program, volunteer mentorship, a comprehensive Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, and community outreach events that showcase shelter animals outside of the shelter environment. Through these programs, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter works to support animals, educate the community, and strengthen the human-animal bond.

Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter welcomes monetary and in-kind donations; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience become one of their valued volunteers or fosters.
