Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter

About Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots, and will help them find their new best friends. As the municipal shelter for the largest township in the country, the organization is committed to finding permanent homes for every adoptable animal in their care.

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter has many programs in addition to pet adoption. As part of its commitment to reduce pet overpopulation and promote responsible pet ownership, the organization offers a publicly available, low cost spay/neuter clinic. In addition, the shelter maintains a feral cat spay/neuter program, and offers humane education for primary and secondary school age children to teach about animal care and responsible pet ownership.

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter welcomes monetary and in-kind donations, as well as a variety of pet food, basics and cleaning products; see their complete wish list for details. For a more hands on experience, become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters.
