Story Details
Background:
Christopher, active in the Navy, lives in the San Diego area. In October of 2017, he adopted a then 7 year-old Boxer named Murphy from the County of San Diego Department of Animal Services - Bonita. In March of 2018, he adopted another Boxer, 10 year-old Rocky, from the same shelter. Both pets are Pets for Patriots eligible because we allow our members to adopt up to two pets through our program.
For Patriot stories, no interview is required. You'll be taking this veteran's submitted info and crafting a compelling, fleshed out story from that. It's important you find a theme to tie it all together and add to the story as needed to create a 700 - 900 word blog post. Perhaps you want to reference outside sources based on the theme you find in their words. We'll give you the veteran's contact info should you need to follow up with clarification questions.

| Why I chose to adopt a pet | |
| My wife and I lost our Boxer, Kronk that she had for almost 12 years. When we were ready, we decided to visit our local animal shelter and found Murphy, he is a 7 yr old boxer and wanted to give him a home to spend his senior dog years. About 4 months later we adopted Rocky. He too was a boxer. He is 10 yrs old and also deaf. We too also wanted to provide him with a loving and safe environment to spend his senior years. | |
| Why I chose to adopt through Pets for Patriots | |
| I found out about Pets for Patriots through our local shelter. It is an amazing program and wanted to help rescue an older dog and ended up getting two! | |
| How my honorably adopted pet has changed my life | |
| These two have brought so much joy to our home. We love them both so much. All they want to do is please us and show how much they appreciate being adopted. They show us lots of love and are constantly making us laugh. They really helped us with the loss of Kronk. | |
| What I love most about my new pet friend | |
| We love how they interact with each other. I also love how excited they get when we go to grandma and grandpas. They are always ready to greet you when you arrive home with butt wags and slobbers!!! | |
