About Citizens for Animal Protection

Citizens for Animal Protection offers dog and cat adoptions to Houston-area veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots.

Founded in 1972, Citizens For Animal Protection is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

In addition to pet adoption services, CAP operates the Cornelius Clinic which provides low-cost wellness care to the public, a foster program and a trap-neuter-return (TNR) program for feral cats.

Citizens for Animal Protection welcomes monetary donations, as well as in-kind contributions to its wish list. Become one of their valued volunteers or pet fosters for a more hands-on experience.
