City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control

About City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control

The City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control offers dog and cat adoptions to veterans in the Pets for Patriots program and will assist them in selecting their new best friend. The shelter is the primary provider of animal-related services for Bloomington and Monroe County.

In addition to its responsibility to provide shelter and adoption services for stray and unwanted animals, the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control reunites owners with lost pets, enforces all animal control ordinances and educates the public about animal care and behavior. In addition, the organization maintains a pet foster guardian program which, together with its shelter-based and off-site adoption events, provides another avenue to rescue and socialize dogs and cats prior to their adoption. As part of its commitment to owner education and responsible pet care, the shelter maintains a weekly television show, “Pets Without Partners,” offering various tips on pet behavior, training and medical care. Educational tours of the facility are available as well on an appointment basis.

The City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control welcomes donations of canned dog and cat food (without dyes), various pet toys, towels, blankets and other items; see their complete wish list for more details and drop-off information.
