Gilmer County Animal Shelter offers dog adoptions to area veterans through its partnership with Pets for Patriots.
In addition to pet adoption, Gilmer County Animal Shelter investigates animal cruelty and neglect complaints, and enforces state and local animal-related laws. Volunteers at Ellijay Paws In Need collaborate with the shelter to list dogs available for adoption. Individuals who are interested to adopt cats are encouraged to visit the shelter while a project to list cats is planned.
